Commenting on the tenth anniversary of the introduction of the free bus pass scheme in Wales, Age Cymru's Director of Influencing and Programme Development, Victoria Lloyd says:
"The free bus pass scheme is and has always been very popular among older people in Wales since it's introduction back in 2002, for many it is considered a lifeline.
"However, bus services vary in quality and frequency across Wales, and in some areas older people have told us that the services don't allow them to really make the most of their free pass, so this is an area that does need improving.
"Wales needs a fully integrated public transport system to help people who can't drive to maintain their independence and get the most out of life.
"It would also benefit wider society and the environment by reducing our reliance on cars."
