Health MOTs for older people

Age Cymru has welcomed Welsh Labour's election pledge to ensure all older people in Wales receive an annual health check-up from their GP.
Graeme Francis of Age Cymru says:
"This is a policy which is regularly suggested by older people in Wales, and is one which Age Cymru recommended in our campaign report on improved access to foot care services - Little Steps Can Make a Big Difference.
"We believe annual health checks for older people would be extremely beneficial and would support a much greater emphasis on prevention and early intervention within health services.
"With regular ‘MOTs', any health issues can be identified, monitored and treated at an earlier stage before they become more severe and require more intensive treatment.
"Ensuring older people regularly see a health specialist is a policy which would benefit both individuals and the NHS as a whole."
