Published on 15 May 2014 10:00 AM

South Wales Central Assembly Member Eluned Parrott is visiting a Cardiff care home today to learn how good practice can enhance older people's quality of life.

Our award-winning My Home Life Cymru programme is welcoming Eluned to one of its champion care homes, Quarry Hall Nursing Home in St Mellons.

The care home prides itself in delivering excellent care for residents with dementia and is run by Helen Randell who in 2012 won the 'Outstanding Service Award' at the Wales Care Awards.

Eluned Parrott says;

"I'm delighted to visit Quarry Hall today to speak to residents, staff and visitors about good practice and their partnership with Age Cymru.

"As Chair of the Cross Party Group on Dementia, it's very important to me to ensure that residents are being treated with dignity and respect and leading fulfilling lives.

"It's excellent to see that there is a care home in my constituency that is delivering outstanding care to their residents, to ensure that they have quality of life.

"With programmes such as My Home Life Cymru we can continue to support residents, staff and relatives by sharing examples of good practice."

John Moore, Programme Manager of My Home Life Cymru says;

"We thank Eluned Parrott for taking time to visit Quarry Hall Nursing Home and supporting our My Home Life Cymru programme at Age Cymru.

"Sharing good practice and promoting quality of life in care homes is key to the work we deliver - ensuring that residents are living fulfilling lives.

"We will continue to be a voice for residents, staff, relatives and visitors across Wales, making dignity and respect a priority for all."
