Every Stitch Tells a Story: Myra’s Cardigan

A beautiful cardigan, a shared passion and the joy of coming together.
Sometimes, it’s the things we make with our hands that tell the biggest stories.
For Myra, knitting is much more than a hobby. It’s a chance to be creative, put her skills to good use and enjoy something she loves. And through the weekly group at Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn, it’s also an opportunity to share that passion with others.
Myra’s latest creation is this beautiful cardigan, a wonderful example of the time, patience and care that go into every stitch. It’s something to be proud of, and a lovely reminder of the skills, talents and interests that people continue to enjoy throughout later life.
But the group is about more than what its members make.
It’s about having somewhere to go, people to chat to and the chance to spend time with others who share similar interests. It’s about friendship, feeling part of something and enjoying the simple pleasure of doing something you love.
Because ageing well isn’t just about staying physically healthy. It’s about staying connected, having a sense of purpose and continuing to do the things that bring us joy.
At Age Cymru, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy later life, feel valued and remain connected to their community. Activities like the weekly group at Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn help create those opportunities, bringing people together in a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone has something to share.
Myra’s cardigan is a beautiful example of what can come from that shared time, but it’s the people, the conversations and the connections that make groups like this so special.
And who knows what the next project will be?
Thank you, Myra, for sharing your wonderful work with us. We can’t wait to see what you knit next!
