Responding to figures out today from the Department of Work and Pensions that reveal that more than a quarter of under 16s will live to be 100, Victoria Lloyd, Age Cymru's Director of Influencing and Programme Development says:
"Age and ageing is something to be celebrated and today's figures are further proof of what we already know and that is that the population is ageing and we are all living longer and more healthily.
"At the moment, 1 in 4 Welsh adults is aged 65 or over and by 2031 - in 20 years' time, 1 in 3 Welsh adults will be aged 65 or over.
"We need to prepare for the future and we need policies that will adapt to the needs of an ageing population.
"We must listen to older people, adopt policies that allow them to live independently , have choice and dignity and be able to live their lives to the full."
