Residential care home review

The Older People's Commissioner for Wales Sarah Rochira has announced that she will be investigating the quality of care at residential care homes for older people across Wales.
Commenting on the news, Victoria Lloyd, Age Cymru's Director of Influencing says:
"All older people should feel that they have voice, choice and control over their lives and that they have the right support to make informed decisions.
"Quality of life is often confused with quality of care - older people may receive care that meets required regulation or standards, but individuals may still experience a poor quality of life if decisions are taken away from them, or if their relationships and aspirations are ignored and neglected.
"We have worked with some fantastic care homes supporting older people to have a good quality of life across Wales.
"We hope that through the Review, the Commissioner can make recommendations that ensure all older people are able to have such positive experiences."
